Welcome to Pawsitively Wellness—your go-to guide for everyday pet wellness!
If you’ve ever left the vet’s office with your head spinning from all the information (and your pet giving you the side-eye from the carrier), you’re in the right place.
I’ve worked in veterinary medicine for a number of years, and one thing has become very clear: most pet parents deeply love their animals, but don’t always feel confident about the everyday stuff. Vets and their support staff do an excellent job explaining vaccines, medications, and test results. But there’s a whole other side to pet care—the “What do I actually do at home?” side—that often gets rushed, skipped, or lost in the stress of an appointment.
That’s where Pawsitively Wellness comes in.
Everyday questions, real-life answers
Have you ever:
- Stood in a pet store staring at a wall of crates and wondered, “Does Fluffy really need one—and if so, which kind?”
- Grabbed the cheapest bag of kibble and then thought, “Is this actually okay for my pet, or am I cutting corners where I shouldn’t?”
- Felt totally overwhelmed trying to choose between ten different “gentle,” “hypoallergenic,” “oatmeal,” and “medicated” shampoos?
- Wondered how much enrichment a guinea pig or rabbit really needs to be happy and healthy?
- Felt guilty that you’re not doing “enough” because social media makes it look like everyone else has the perfect routine, the perfect diet, and the perfect pet?

You’re not alone.
This blog is here to bridge the gap between what happens at the vet’s office and what happens in your living room, kitchen, backyard, or tiny studio apartment—with a dog, cat, or small pet underfoot (or in your lap).
Who this blog is for
Pawsitively Wellness is for:
- New pet parents who want a solid, trustworthy starting point.
- Experienced owners who want to fine-tune their pet’s routine.
- Guardians of dogs, cats, and small pets (like guinea pigs, rabbits, and other “pocket” companions) who sometimes feel ignored by mainstream pet content.
- Anyone who wants clear, friendly, judgment-free advice that doesn’t make you feel like you’re already failing.
You won’t find shaming, scare tactics, or unrealistic expectations here. Just practical tips, explanations in plain language, and encouragement to do the best you can with what you have.
What you can expect from Pawsitively Wellness
Over time, we’ll explore topics such as:
- Nutrition basics – understanding labels, choosing better foods on a budget, and why that bargain-bin kibble might not be the best long-term choice.
- Home care & grooming – how to pick a shampoo, when to bathe your pet, brushing tips, nail trims, and keeping coats and skin healthy.
- Safe products & smart shopping – from crates and carriers to litter, bedding, toys, and treats: what actually matters and what’s just marketing.
- Environment & enrichment – how to create a comfortable, stimulating space for dogs, cats, and small pets so they’re not just living—but thriving.
- Wellness routines – simple, realistic habits that support your pet’s physical and emotional health over time.
- When to call the vet – red flags you shouldn’t ignore, plus how to communicate effectively with your veterinary team.
My goal isn’t to replace your veterinarian—nothing can do that—but to support the relationship you already have with your vet by helping you feel more informed, confident, and prepared in between visits.
A partnership in care

Caring for a pet is a partnership: between you, your animal, and your veterinary team. I’m here to be that friendly guide in the middle—the one who helps translate, simplify, and reassure.
You love your pets. You want them to live long, happy, comfortable lives. Sometimes you just need someone to walk you through the “how” in a calm, clear way.
That’s the heart of Pawsitively Wellness.
So, whether you’re snuggling a senior cat, training a rambunctious puppy, or filling the hay rack for your guinea pigs, I’m glad you’re here.
